Nino Lortkipanidze ’14 and Anjela Pakhlajian ’10 organized the project We Belong to Earth where 40 volunteers cleaned up the territory of the Tbilisi Sea and attended training sessions on environmental protection on Global Youth Service Day weekend.   FLEX alumnae partnered with the local nonprofit Geo-Eco Alliance and the University of Georgia.  The Chairman of Geo-Eco Alliance Tsiala Abesadze talked to the volunteers about the importance of the environment protection, explained the negative results of it, and gave examples how youth can actively get involved in local and world-wide environmental protection events.

On April 19, the volunteers cleaned up a beach of the Tbilisi Sea for four hours, through sun and rain!  The alumni leaders will keep in touch with the event volunteers to hold quarterly follow up meetings and organize other environment protection events.
