Alina Gabdrakhmanova ‘12
Yekaterinburg, Russia/Katy, TX

Alina Gabdrakhmanova ’12 is among the twenty international delegates of the G(irls) 20 Summit.  The first ever FLEX alumna nominated to this program, Alina will join 20 other young women from G20 countries plus representative from the European & African Unions, Afghanistan, Pakistan to debate and design solutions that will economically advance girls and women around the world at the G(irls)20 Summit in Australia on August 25-26, 2014. G(irls)20 mobilizes girls and young women for impact locally, nationally and internationally.

Alina noted the FLEX program and participation in Civic Education Week as a FLEX student as a catalyst for her leadership development.  Upon her return to Russia in 2012, Alina volunteered with the NGO Good Deeds Cause to work with people with disabilities at the Together for the Better Summer Camp in St. Petersburg, Russia.  At the Summit, Alina hopes to leverage and expand her leadership and communication skills and pass along the tools to other youth Russian women, encouraging them to tap their full potential through development work, education, and entrepreneurship.
