FLEX alumni joined the 24-hour FLEX 20th Anniversary Social Media Party online on May 15. Party-goers included American host families, local coordinators and placement organization representatives, high school friends, American Councils staff, and other supporters of the program. Using Facebook and Twitter as the celebration platforms, these special guests made the event fun and heartfelt as they shared their appreciation and memories in the form of photos, videos, greetings and testimonies. Statistical analysis of Facebook activity on the Eurasia FLEX Alumni page reveals 36,134 unique viewers saw information on the page during the week leading up to the event, including the party itself on May 15, which amounted to a 300% increase in reach. Twitter is gaining popularity in Eurasia, and it, too, demonstrated impressive activity levels. Eurasia FLEX, coordinating content with FLEX Program, posted 60 tweets during the Social Media Party and helped broaden the reach of the #FLEX20 hashtag to alumni across Eurasia. Worldwide, there were 3698 tweets using the #FLEX20 hashtag during the event.
