FLEX Celebrates 20 Years in ArmeniaFLEX 20th Anniversary CelebrationOn April 26, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern hosted a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the FLEX program for alumni from all program years and their parents, teachers, school directors, and employers.  Ambassador Heffern drew attention to the impact of the exchange experience on the individual lives of each of the more than 800 Armenian participants and on the development of Armenia’s public and private sectors through the contributions of FLEX alumni. Thanks were also extended to program stakeholders, American host families and high schools, and the organizations that work together to implement the program, especially American Councils and the Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ms. Karine Harutyunyan echoed Ambassador Heffern’s words of congratulations, describing the FLEX program as an example of long-standing successful cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Armenia and thanking the U.S. Department of State for providing such opportunities to Armenia’s youth. Performances, photo collages, video interviews, and presentations highlighting alumni activities gave alumni and stakeholders the opportunity to share their impressions about the value of the program.
