FLEX Alumni organized events in recognized of Children’s Day on June 1, 2014, the international holiday to honor children. In Armenia alumni worked together with the Child Development Foundation in Yerevan to hold a play day with children with special needs. In Vanadzor, Armenia, City Representative Lusine Snkhchyan ’13 organized an event where a team of four alumni handed out balloons to children on the street and congratulated them on the holiday. In Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan five alumni visited the children at the Scetliy Put Orphanage and held a talent contest with the children. Tbilisi, Georgia alumni organized a charity event at Rike Park, where they sold jewelry and artwork, and provided face painting for children. All of the proceeds of the event went to support the Beri Andria’s Fund, an organization that supports children with Leukemia. Finally, in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan Dilyara Azizova’10 and Selbi Kurbanova’13 held a discussion about the holiday and how it is celebrated around the world for 36 American Corner visitors.
