FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Spartak Ghazaryan

Spartak Ghazaryan is a sophomore studying business administration at the American University of Armenia. Spartak was passionate about chess and was the under-12 Armenian champion, even though it’s now only a hobby. Thanks to Mr. Edwards, his US economics teacher, he has a strong interest in economics and has pursued a degree in the subject. In addition, Spartak combines his passion for tutoring with his love of math and chess to work as a math and chess tutor at Dasa2.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Azar Seyidli

Azar Seyidli is a second-year law student at Baku State University in Azerbaijan. Azar has been the FLEX City Representative from his hometown of Ganja and was given the CR of the Month Award for June 2023. In 2023, he represented Azerbaijan as a Youth Delegate at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. Currently, Azar chairs the Law Committee at NAYORA, the leading youth organization in Azerbaijan, and serves as a UN Youth Advisory Council member. Azar likes reading and exploring the latest developments worldwide and watching soccer games.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Zuzana Podesvova

Zuzana has just graduated from high school. In September 2024, her university life will start, and she will study Philosophy and International Relations. Zuzana’s work experience is more of a volunteering one. Since 2020, she has worked as one of the summer camp leaders of camps funded by the allergology department of a Faculty Hospital. Zuzana’s interests are sports, learning, and most importantly, music. She has a rock/pop band where she sings, and she loves it!

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Sofia Nikitina

Sofia is a returning AC, she’s currently studying medicine at the University of Tartu. Aside from school and her AC position, she’s active in the Estonian Medical Students’ Association and has led and co-organized numerous projects to promote public health across Estonia. During her free time, Sofia enjoys volunteering and playing the organ at her local church. She loves running and skiing, and she has a professional certification in data processing. Sofia was selected as the Alumni Coordinator of the Month in January 2024.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Barbare Tchkoidze

Barbare volunteered actively as a CR between 2018-2020 and successfully completed the Alumni Internship Program by working at Global Compact. She studies International Relations at Tbilisi State University and has represented Georgia abroad as an Erasmus+ Student at the University of Limerick in Ireland and the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Barbare’s passion for volunteering has also led her to serve as a European Solidarity Corps Volunteer in Ankara, Türkiye. She is a returning Alumni Coordinator and in 2023-2024 five alumni of her CR/UR team received the CR/UR of the Month award.

Maria is currently studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She’s known for her role as the FLEX Alumni Coordinator of Greece in 2021-2022, where she led initiatives to support fellow alumni. Previously, Maria served as the Head HR Officer at Beyond Orbit, a non-profit focused on space innovation, where she helped create opportunities for students and young professionals in engineering. Outside of her studies, Maria loves singing, cooking, and indulging her passion for Harry Potter and cats!

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Kiara Horvath

Kiara is currently in her last year of IB high school diploma. She is interested in politics and diplomacy. During her FLEX year, she participated in both the Civic Education Workshop and the Better Understanding for a Better World Conference, which further increased Kiara’s passion for these subjects. In her home country, she has recently won a national debate competition about current issues and organized media literacy workshops for the local community. She is currently in the process of becoming a member of the Budapest Student Government.

Yryskeldi Biimurzaev is in his fourth year of International Relations at the University of Manas. For the past 3 years, he has been involved in volunteering activities, such as being a City Representative of the FLEX program in his hometown. FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Tina Dansone

Tina Dansone is a dedicated and accomplished student who completed her high school education at Marupe State Gymnasium and Jaunmārupe Music & Art School with excellence and with an exchange year at Oshkosh North High School under the FLEX program (2022/2023). Tina is the inventor of the “Wellness Days” system at Marupe State Gymnasium, earning an interview on Latvian national television, paving the way for mental health awareness in the Latvian school system. In addition to Tina’s academic pursuits, she has logged over 100 hours of volunteer work while on the FLEX program, Introduced and established the School Parliament election system at Marupe State Gymnasium, has served as a member of the Marupe State Gymnasium elected student parliament (2019-2024). Tina’s work experience consists of working in food festivals & car festivals. Tina is passionate about music, particularly jazz singing and performing, cooking, and being a socially active citizen participating in various projects, initiatives, and movements.

Kipras is a FLEX Alumni Coordinator for 2024–2025. In 2022, Kipras completed the FLEX Program at Auburn High School, Washington State, where he participated in cross country, swimming, track and field, and the associate student body. His passion for organizing events led him to join his school parliament and become a city representative of Kaunas in 2022-2023. From 2019 to 2024, Kipras was an active member of my school’s debate club and competed in various national and international tournaments. Kipras graduated from Kaunas Jesuit High School in 2024. In his free time, Kipras enjoys reading non-fiction, watching basketball and American football, playing volleyball, and running.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Victor Rotaru

Victor is a senior at Mihail Sadoveanu Lyceum in Hincesti, Moldova, and is actively engaged in leadership and community service. He recently concluded his term as a City Representative of Hincesti, successfully organizing and leading numerous events, including local fundraising campaigns and cultural projects. Victor is the Leader of the Volunteering Department at NextStep Youth Centre and the founder of the Golden Hands Team, managing a network of volunteers to execute various social, educational, and cultural activities. His notable achievements include participating in the FLEX-Ability Leadership Workshop in Warsaw and collaborating with local organizations to support families in need. In his leisure time, Victor enjoys running, cycling, cooking, writing, and reading.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Bujinlkham (Bunny) Altangerel

Bujinlkham is a high school graduate currently serving as an Alumni Coordinator for the second term. She volunteered as a city representative of Ulaanbaatar in 2022-2023 and has been working as a marketing manager at a private music institution for 4 years. She has been playing violin for 6 years and sometimes she performs at concerts and events as a violinist and hosts concerts as an MC in Mongolia. She also likes to make reels on her Instagram and videos on YouTube.

Marko completed a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in educational leadership, both in the United States. Marko has since been working in various higher education and K-12 functions recruiting, supporting, and engaging students, as well as managing staff, in the United States and Asia. He is currently leading marketing activities for an EdTech company that produces software for admissions management in higher education. Besides his work in education and immense interest in cultural exchange and community building, Marko has a passion for music and dance, and he loves to travel.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Mateusz Szostek

Mateusz is studying at the University of Warsaw, pursuing his interests in global politics and diplomacy with a double major in International Relations and American Studies. Since returning from the U.S., he has actively engaged in educational initiatives, including mentoring disadvantaged youth through the co-created “TeenCademy Mentoring Program” and organizing TEDxYouth conferences. Additionally, Mateusz shares his passion for language and culture as an ESL Instructor at the British School. He’s enthusiastic about learning foreign languages (especially Spanish and German), graphic design and photography, exploring new destinations, and immersing himself in literature while honing his creative writing skills.

Antonia is a second-year student at the University of Bucharest, studying International Relations and European Studies. During her time at American Councils, she has organized a great number of projects and activities, the most notable ones being workshops on women’s rights, mentorship programs, and civic participation activities. Her professional interests include political or social debating and human rights activism. Her passions also include science, she is a proud Red Cross and Ambulance volunteer. Vukasin is an experienced Alumni Program Coordinator, having served in the role from 2018 to 2020 and from 2023 to the present. He has a passion for community building and collaborations. Apart from FLEX, his varied work experience includes working with film festivals, ERASMUS+, European Solidarity Corps in Portugal, the University of Arts in Belgrade, and IT startups and corporations like GoDaddy. Daniela is a high school student with a passion for biology, chemistry, and psychology. As a previous CR for her hometown, she’s spent much time volunteering in many different segments focused on helping others (such as mentoring kids and working with socially disadvantaged groups of people) with a keen interest in understanding the complexities of social problems. Mujiba is a fifth-year medical student at Aviccena Tajik State Medical University aspiring to specialize in ophthalmic surgery. Yelena received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the American University of Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan and her master’s degree in Eastern European Studies from the University of Bologna in Italy. Today, Yelena is a FLEX Alumni Coordinator, Go Viral Ambassador in Turkmenistan, and co-founder of the long-term alumni project Young Professionals Network in Turkmenistan. Yelena was proud to receive the Alumna of the Year 2023 Award from the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan.

– Diana Shalashna

Diana is a continuing FLEX Alumni Coordinator in Central and Eastern Ukraine. Diana is doing her Master’s in International Relations and Social Communications at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University. Diana is passionate about developing youth engagement and community service in Ukraine, as well as encouraging personal and professional development for FLEX alumni. In her free time, Diana enjoys reading, studying languages, and going for long walks.

Western Ukraine & Abroad – Vira Grabchuk

Vira Hrabchuk is a writer and translator based in Ternopil, Ukraine. In 2024, her first book called “Finding light amid war” came out in Ukrainian and English. Vira also delivers workshops in translation and interpretation. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, she has been actively involved in relief efforts and volunteering.

FLEX Alumni Coordinator: Shakhlokhon (Shaki) Valijonova

Shakhlokhon spent her exchange year in Phoenix, Arizona. She recently completed her sophomore year at Webster University in Tashkent majoring in International Relations. She’s currently serving her second term as an alumni coordinator in Uzbekistan, Shakhlokhon has been committed to strengthening the alumni community, bridging a 13-year gap when the program was inactive in Uzbekistan. She finds great fulfillment in witnessing the growth of her fellow alumni and has actively collaborated with other youth program alumni over the past year. Shakhlokhon feels privileged to be part of this vibrant community, continually inspired by the remarkable people she meets.
